How SCANTrivia works

It is a scavenger hunt with a quiz inside. Badges are the collecting points, questions are the challenge, and the leaderboard settles who paid attention.

If you are playing

1

Sign in to your event

Use your account or the private player key supplied by your organizer, then choose your public nickname. No app download is needed.

2

Point your camera at a badge

Each badge carries its own QR code. Scanning it opens a question — the same badge always holds the same question, so people keep looking for badges they have not scanned yet.

3

Answer before the timer hits zero

The clock starts at 20 seconds, and the organizer can make it shorter or longer. Pick one of the answers shown.

4

Watch your score and the board

A correct answer scores that question's points. Your screen shows your points and how many badges you have scanned, and the leaderboard ranks everyone at the event.

The rules

Right answer, full points

A question is worth whatever the organizer set for it. A wrong answer scores nothing, and the badge is used up either way.

One question per badge

Scan the same badge twice and you will not get a second shot at it. Move on to the next person.

The clock is real

If the timer runs out, that question is over. There is a two-second cushion for slow phones, and nothing more.

Badges are printed

The organizer prints the badges with names and QR codes on them, so the game only works where the badges are.

Running the event?

You write the questions, print the badges and set the clock. Everyone else just scans.
